According to data from the Central Statistical Office (GUS), the Consumer Price Index (CPI), which is the primary measure of inflation in Poland, stood at 6.5% in October on an annual basis. This is the lowest level since September 2021 and is in line with the average economist estimate conducted by the “Parkiet” agency (6.6%).
The 1.7% drop in the annual inflation rate is one of the most significant this year. However, the period of decline appears to be coming to an end, as indicated by the changes in prices over the month.
In October, fuel prices decreased by 4.2%, and on an annual basis, fuel prices dropped by 14.4%, which is the highest rate since July.
Energy prices increased by 0.2% in October compared to September, but on an annual basis, they rose by 8.3%, which is also the lowest level since September 2021.
Regarding food and non-alcoholic beverages, they increased by 0.4% compared to September. Prices for products in this category rose by 7.9% compared to October of the previous year, influenced by the high base, and this is the lowest rate since February 2022.
